 | I remember reading from time to time in the past about experiences where people have reported that objects have disappeared and reappeared in the most unlikely of places. Usually it is a personal possession of some sort such as keys, wallets, glasses, rings and so on. I have to admit when I have read them I was pretty skeptical that either the person involved was just being absent minded, or maybe the victim of a practical joke. However after a recent, rather direct experience with this phenomena, I am no longer so sure.
On a recent investigation I had taken with me a red pen that had my day jobs company logo. I had clipped it to my shirt to have to take notes. I had verified I had it on two occasions before we started the investigation. Once when I unloaded my car trunk of the equipment we were going to use for the investigation, and then again when I grabbed the pen to offer it to the client to sign the standard investigation consent form (they already had one, so I clipped it back to my shirt)
Midway through the walk through, I realized I did not feel the pen. I looked down and sure enough, the pen was gone! What makes this even more odd is the fact that the shirt was a Polo shirt and the pen was not clipped to a pocket but rather the to one side of the collar button up lapel, so one side of the pen lay on my skin! At first I thought maybe it fell into my shirt, but it was not there. I retraced my steps through the house and the pen was nowhere to be found. I vocalized to everyone there that the pen was missing but no one else claimed to see it either, so I retrieved a spare pencil I carry around and continued with the investigation. I have to admit I thought I was losing my mind since being so SURE I had it from the two other times mentioned.
When the investigation concluded several hours later, I took the equipment back to the car. I opened my trunk and there in the middle of the trunk in plain sight was the pen! It should also be mentioned that at no time during the investigation did I visit the trunk of my car (had no reason to since I already had all my equipment). I noted the oddity, but realized that since I did not have any witnesses that had told me they saw the pen with me, I was going to have to mark it down as a personal experience only and accept the slight chance that maybe it had fallen off while I was unloading and had a serious mental lapse over the moment I offered the pen to the owners to use (hey, however odd, ones got to consider it a possibility I guess).
Upon evidence review however, another interesting piece of the mystery was revealed. We had left a digital recorder running in one of the rooms we were investigating and on the recording, during a section I can be heard discussing the missing pen with another investigator, we caught a class A EVP of a child saying with great pride 'What I got!'. Intriguing as it was, I still had to mark it as personal experience with one heck of a coincidence to boot!
The kicker came during the reveal of the investigations evidence. When we started discussing the report and the several pieces of evidence we collected, one of the owners validated that she HAD seen the pen (I had not asked them at the time if they had seen it on me when I came in, I had only asked if they had seen it after it disappeared), and remembered it because they saw me remove it to offer it to them during the consent signing. So now I had corroboration that they pen WAS in my possession when I entered the house where I remembered it! (I only add the emphasis to show the relief I felt that I wasn't going completely nuts!)
So now I not only have a corroborating witness, I have an entity taking credit for the deed! They say seeing is believing, or maybe in this case, not seeing?
Be sure to come back soon as we will be posting the evidence from the investigation mentioned here! |

 | Investigator follow-up entry:
I wanted to add an interesting personal experience that recently happened to me that has me wondering if I may or may not have had something mischievous follow me home from the investigation where the pen made its disappearing act. Keep in mind that this occurrence that I am about to impart is only a personal experience with absolutely no evidence whatsoever other than my own eyewitness testimony, so take it as you will. However I assure you I have no ulterior motives here other than to entertain you with a very interesting follow up to the DOPler story.
I have been on travel for my work recently which took me to the Dallas / Fort Worth area. The first week I had started my traveling I stayed at a hotel that had my room on the fourteenth floor. The room was nothing special, your typical bed, bath and boob tube. The TV was in a hutch that had a shelf for the remote and game controller, and a bar that you could raid for either cost of your very soul or your your life savings (which ever they determine to be worth more). The room had one entrance to it, the main door.
Knowing all this, I can get on to the story. The second day I came back to my hotel room, I noticed the remote control to the TV was missing. Assuming housekeeping had probably moved it or taken it unwittingly, I did a thorough search of the room first before calling the front desk for a replacement. I even looked behind furniture (the beds are blocked so there is no 'under the beds', to speak of), but not luck. I called the front desk and they had an engineer come to my room where he repeated the search I just had before giving me a new remote. Again, I assumed housekeeping had it and gave it no further thought.
The next morning, I put the new remote in the hutch with the TV and went off to work. That evening, I got back to my room to find the remote right where I left it. The next day I was to catch an early flight home, so I packed that night in preparation. When I went to bed, I cleared the nightstand of everything except the alarm and the lamp (They sold $6 spring waters and had fliers that got in the way of things), which was a ritual I did nightly to make sure I didn't wipe out everything on the table trying to turn the alarm off in the morning!
When the alarm went off, I got up and ready to go to the airport. Before leaving, I would always put the stuff back on the nightstand. When I went to the nightstand to do this, right in front of the alarm clock was a remote control! Knowing there was was nothing there when I went to bed, I went to the hutch and confirmed that the other one was indeed still there. I now had two remote controls! I checked the door and the bar that would prevent entry from the outside was in place so it was simply not possible for anyone to have entered the room while I slept.
Now I will admit I did not scour the room before I went to bed to know that the second remote was not in the room, but I can say with 100% certainty that it was NOT on the nightstand when I went to bed! This is the second time, that something has disappeared and reappeared in a way that would be readily noticed by me. Now I admit that I tend to have a pretty good eye for detail, but had this happened with just about anything else in the hotel room, I can't say for sure that I would have paid it much heed. I guess what makes it even more intriguing is that I have not in recent memory recalled ever having had experience with objects vanishing, and now within a 2-3 month period, its happened TWICE!
Choose to believe it or not, but it did happen.

LOL! I just have to add that I wasn't BS'n you when I explained the DOPler story... it can make you go crazy! More so when your entire wallet disappears and then reappears underneath a bag of flour on the very top shelf (I'm 5'0 maybe, I don't put ANYTHING I NEED on the top shelf)

Well first off I just want to say I know for a fact that he had his pen with him when we started the night. I know this because I live at the king residence and I was standing next to him when he offered it to me to sign the papers. LoL. So I am just saying that I for 1 believe that the disapearing act sounds like a good way for someone/somethingt to really play with someones mind. I am looking forward to the next visit and what they find this time. I have listened to the tapes and looked at the videos again and again and I think there are a few things I believe we missed the first time. I am looking forward to telling meggy about the things I found and getting her responce. I think this visit will enlighten us a little more about the things going on in the house, I hope.
